For this week’s Daily Creates, I explored multimedia through images, audio, and personal storytelling. I selected activities that allowed me to share meaningful aspects of my life, including a place that has become familiar to me in Victoria, an object connected to one of my longest hobbies, and an audio introduction in my native language. Together, these different forms of media helped me communicate personal experiences in ways that a single medium could not.
A Place That Means Something to Me:

This church is one of the first things I see when I look out from my apartment. The design and structure of the building are very different from what I usually see in Japan. Because of its unique architecture and the view around it, I find it calming and relaxing to look at. Since moving to Victoria, this view has become a familiar part of my daily life and reminds me of my experience living in Canada as an international student.
Meaningful Object:

These soccer cleats are one of my most meaningful possessions because soccer has been a major part of my life since elementary school. Through soccer, I have learned teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. After moving to Canada, playing soccer also helped me stay active and meet new people. Some of my favorite memories and friendships have come from the sport, and these cleats remind me of the experiences I have had both in Japan and in Victoria. Although they are just a pair of shoes, they represent many years of hard work, growth, and enjoyment.
Japanese Audio Introduction:
For this Daily Create, I introduced myself in Japanese, my native language. Although I use English every day at university and work, speaking Japanese reminds me of my background and where I came from. This activity demonstrates how audio can communicate identity and personality in ways that written text cannot. It also highlights the value of using multiple forms of media to share information and personal experiences.
This week’s Daily Creates helped me think about how different forms of media can communicate meaning in different ways. The church photograph allowed me to share a place that has become important during my time in Victoria, while the image of my soccer cleats represented a hobby that has shaped much of my life. The audio introduction added another layer by allowing me to express my identity through spoken language rather than written text.
These activities connect to Mayer’s Multimedia Principle, which suggests that people learn more effectively when information is presented through multiple forms of media. The combination of images, audio, and text provided different ways to communicate ideas and experiences. In addition, these Daily Creates relate to Universal Design for Learning (UDL) because they offer multiple means of representation and expression. Creating and sharing content through different media helped me better understand how multimedia can make communication more engaging and meaningful.
